Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) Training Information

You may find the following useful when switching to Internet Explorer 7:

• Settings to select when running IE7 for the first time:  (don't be too concerned if you've already set these (to other than as listed here), they can all be adjusted later and aren't critical settings).

  • Default search provider: choose first option

  • Phishing filter: check this box on

  • Cleartype: check this box on

  • Choose Your Region and Language: choose English (Australian)

  • Customer Experience Improvement Program: we don't suggest you check this

  • At the end click "Save your settings".
     

• Other settings you may find useful:

  • If you can't see the Menus:  File...Edit...View...Favorites...etc  -- you need to right-click on a blank region of the menu area and make sure "Menu Bar" has a check mark against it.

  • Select Tools Menu / Internet Options.  Select "Security" tab (2nd left) click "Trusted Sites" then click on the "Sites" button.  In the "Add this website to the zone" box type:  anubis.anu.edu.au  and click "Add"; also in the "Add this website to the zone" box type:  isis.anu.edu.au  and click "Add".  Click "Close" and "OK".

  • Select Tools Menu / Internet Options.  Select "Advanced" tab (far right).  Scroll to the end of the list and de-select the second last setting (no tick) for "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode"

  • ESP Finance users only may find this setting useful:  Select Tools Menu / Internet Options.  Select "Privacy" tab (3rd from left).  In "Pop-up blocker" section choose "Settings". In "Address of web site to allow" type: espfin.anu.edu.au  and click "add"  then click "Close", and then "OK".
